Giving Opportunities

The Hospital Hospitality House is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. Established by a group of caring citizens, HHH has evolved from its original eight room dormitory space to its current facility, a renovated 121-room former hotel. Since its founding in 1984, more than 83,000 referred patients and families receiving treatment at eight Richmond area hospitals have found HHH a welcome refuge during medical crises.

Annual Giving Campaign
The most critical financial need for Hospitality House is funding for our day to day operations. Without ongoing, unrestricted gifts from our individual and corporate donors, the House would not be able to offer lodging and non - medical support services to families in need. Our House, just like yours, has heating, air conditioning and maintenance costs. Volunteers provide many services for HHH, however a small staff is still necessary to keep everything running smoothly. Your annual contribution will help us to continue to meet our mission.

Family Assistance
The Hospital Hospitality House, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, provides critical housing for those experiencing medical crisis. HHH suggests a minimum donation of $10 per person per night. The remaining amount comes from contributions, special events income and our Joint Venture with MCVH.

Approximately 30% of all guests are unable to meet the minimum suggested donation. Contributions from the community allow us to provide services to all those in need regardless of their ability to make a donation for their stay.

Naming Opportunities
Since 1994, when the Hospital Hospitality House moved to its present location at 7th and Marshall Streets, much has been done to renovate and remodel the building to provide a home-like environment for guests and patients. Many naming opportunities remain as renovations continue. These include:

Hats Off to You Room $30,000
Day Rester's Room $25,000
Guest Rooms $10,000

Other named gift opportunities are available for contributions ranging from $5,000 to $100,000. Please talk with the Development Office at HHH for more information.

Other Opportunities
HHH has other options for companies, groups and individuals interested in donating to the House. These include:

Zeigler Day - $250 gift dedicates a day in honor or memory of someone special and is recognized on our marquis posted on the outside of the building at the corner of 7th and Marshall Streets
Leaf on the Tree of Hope - Minimum gift of $500
One Day at a Time - $5,000 gift to fund one day of operation
Endowment Fund - Gifts made to ensure the future operation of the Hospitality House
Gifts of Appreciated Securities - This offers a number of advantages over cash gifts by avoiding capital gains and realizing a tax deduction for the full market value of the securities.

Planned Giving
Important to the future success of the facility, a planned gift or bequest are also options.

Planned gift arrangements can be created to provide income to the donor or other individual(s) during the donor's lifetime in addition to providing a tax deduction. The gift transfers to HHH after the death of the trust's income beneficiary.

A bequest through a will is an excellent way to ensure that HHH will be able to continue its critical mission for years to come.

Life Insurance is another option if the donor owns a policy that is no longer needed. Cash value at the time of the gift, as well as any premiums the donor continues to pay, are all tax deductible.
