Again, thank you for many years of love and support of my family.” HHH Guest The Hospital Hospitality House provides a full range of conveniences designed to eliminate life's day to day stresses so that patients may focus on recovery and families can concentrate on helping their loved one. Facilities include private guestrooms, kitchens and dining room, television lounges, a laundry room, a library, a chapel, an exercise room and the Day Rester's Room.Guest Rooms HHH has over 100 guestrooms, each with a private bathroom. Each room is decorated individually, with no two rooms the same, to provide more of a home-like atmosphere. Most rooms have two double beds. Handicap-equipped guestrooms are available for special needs guests. Each guestroom is equipped with a phone on which guests can make and receive calls 24 hours a day. M.S., Guest, Maryland Kitchens & Dining Room When caring for a loved one who is sick, eating a home cooked meal is often not possible. At the Hospital Hospitality House, spacious kitchens, where the refrigerator, freezer and pantry are always stocked, provide guests the opportunity to prepare a meal or snack on their own time schedule. One kitchen is restricted to use by transplant patients only. HHH's dining room provides a relaxing environment where guests may enjoy their meals. "Just a note to express my feelings of gratitude. To have a place to stay and food to eat, when in an unfamiliar area, just ministers to the soul." P.L., guest Television Rooms The first floor family room is a good place to relax and visit with other guests experiencing similar circumstances. This comfortable room is equipped with a large screen television, a computer with internet connection to send and receive e-mail, and a full range of jigsaw puzzles and games. In addition, each floor has its own television lounge. "Thank you doesn't seem to cover it, but we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. All of you from the kitchen, housekeeping and maintenance to the front desk have been wonderful. Without this place we would have been in trouble." J.R. & Family, Guests Library Filled with a collection of over 3,000 leisure reading and reference books, the library includes a large selection of hardcover, paperback and audio books, and videotapes. Guests may borrow from the library during their stay. The library may also be used for small meetings or gatherings of guests. Parlor The parlor at the Hospital Hospitality House provides guests with a small comfortable place in which to visit, read or talk with one of HHH's Social Workers. "There is no place I'd rather work than around people who cherish life and enjoy the company of others. I feel a natural satisfaction being at HHH & know that my work here is greatly appreciated & needed." Shorty McLean, Maintenance Supervisor, HHH Laundry Room A laundry room, available free of charge to all HHH guests, relieves their concern about washing personal clothing. The laundry room is open 24 hours a day accommodating the guests' schedules. Soap powder is provided through donations. Mrs. NG, Raleigh, NC Linens Guests are provided with clean towels and linens every day. Telephones Each guestroom is equipped with a phone to make and receive calls. Calls may be received 24 hours a day. Phones are equipped to record messges for individual guest rooms. Chapel The chapel is a non-denominational room where guests may go to spend a quiet, spiritual time. It serves as an excellent private meeting room when a guest's clergy visits. The chapel is available 24 hours a day upon request. "It is a marvelous, generous gift to be able to come here, to a place that feels like home, and rest and feel cared for. Exercise Room The exercise room, a perfect way to work through stress, is available to HHH guests 24 hours a day. It is equipped with a full range of exercise machines and with a television to help pass the time. "As a volunteer at HHH, I learned many things about the gift of giving, the gift of saying good morning to guests who need a warm greeting when going through the heartache they were enduring." C.P., Student Volunteer Day Rester Room Furnished and decorated with support from the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation, the Day Rester Room provides a place for people to rest who are undergoing procedures at area hospitals. Patients and their caregivers not requiring overnight stay can relax in a comfortable and quiet room, away from the hospital. The Day Rester Room and the shuttle bus to and from MCV Hospitals are available by calling HHH at 804.828.6901.
